Television nostalgia is making a grand return, and this time it’s with one of India’s most iconic shows. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, a series that became a household name for years, is officially coming back. Ekta Kapoor’s legendary creation is set to relive its glory days with fresh episodes, and viewers are counting days.

Recently, fresh reports confirmed that Smriti Irani, who immortalized the character of Tulsi Virani, has started filming for the much-anticipated new season. According to India Forums, the actress-turned-politician is back on set, and the environment around the shoot is nothing less than intense. For security reasons, the entire shoot will happen under strict surveillance. Irani is reported to be filming with Z-plus security, an extremely high-level protection detail.

It’s not just her. Amar Upadhyay, who famously played Mihir, along with producer Ekta Kapoor, are also following tight protocols. The same report mentioned that even their phones would be sealed during the shooting process. The production team has enforced a complete no-phone policy on set to prevent leaks or any kind of footage from escaping before the official announcement. This level of secrecy has only added to the growing curiosity.

The return of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi isn’t a random decision. There’s a story behind it. When the original show concluded in 2008, it stopped just 150 episodes short of reaching the landmark of 2,000 episodes. Ekta Kapoor reportedly expressed her long-standing desire to complete that number. She once mentioned that finishing those episodes was something she owed to the show’s legacy and its audience.

The reboot is expected to fill in those missing 150 episodes, creating a perfect ending to the record-breaking saga. The original series enjoyed a magnificent run, beginning on July 3, 2000, and concluding on November 6, 2008. It wasn’t just a show; it was an era for Indian television. Families adjusted their dinner timings, and streets would go quiet when Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi aired.

This upcoming season plans to bring back familiar faces while also introducing fresh characters to weave new twists into the beloved tale. Ekta Kapoor and her team have kept most details under wraps. However, it’s expected that the official confirmation regarding the show’s return, premiere dates, and possibly a teaser, will drop sometime in June 2025.

With Smriti Irani back as Tulsi and Amar Upadhyay reprising Mihir, audiences are ready to relive the emotions, rivalries, and dramatic twists that defined a generation.
