Surbhi Jyoti has spent several years building her place in the entertainment world. From daily soaps to web shows, she’s remained a steady, admired figure on television. Known for her work in popular serials, Surbhi has stayed away from the world of reality television, particularly one show that many often link her with: Bigg Boss.
Recently, during a candid conversation with Pinkvilla, Surbhi was asked about her connection to the controversial reality series. The curiosity came up because of a promotional video she once shot alongside superstar Salman Khan. Not many know, but years ago, Surbhi featured in a promo for Bigg Boss, which led fans to speculate about her entry into the show’s house.
In a nostalgic moment, Surbhi was shown an old picture with Salman Khan. She smiled, recalling the day it was clicked. It turned out to be from the promotional shoot for Bigg Boss. She revealed that the video was part of a strategic publicity move. Surbhi described it as a “PR trick,” admitting that the plan was to create excitement around the possibility of her joining the show. The stunt worked, sparking plenty of conversations at the time.
With the conversation flowing, the inevitable question followed, would she ever consider being a contestant in Bigg Boss? Surbhi, without hesitation, gave an honest reply. “No,” she said clearly, leaving no room for assumptions. The actress then opened up about her reasons.
She explained that the intense competitive environment inside the Bigg Boss house wouldn’t suit her personality. Surbhi admitted that while she once loved competition, especially during her college days, it no longer defines her. Surbhi reflected on her younger self and said, “I used to be very competitive when I used to participate in theatre and in debates in college. I won so many national championships in debates.”
Today, she views herself differently. While acting continues to be her passion, the idea of battling it out in a confined, high-pressure environment feels out of sync with who she is now. She admitted that she doesn’t want to push herself beyond her comfort zone just for the sake of it. In her own words, she said, “It’s just not me.”
Yet, like many wise artists, she chose not to dismiss the possibility entirely. Surbhi left a small door open for the unexpected, saying, “But still ‘Never say never’.” This statement reflected her understanding that life often takes surprising turns, and what seems unlikely today could become possible in another season of life.
She spoke about how she moved to Mumbai with a dream of acting, not necessarily to join competitions. Acting, for her, was always about storytelling and slipping into different characters. She expressed that being in a cutthroat contest wasn’t what she envisioned for herself when she began this journey. “By nature, I’m not that competitive,” she confessed.
The conversation gave fans a rare glimpse into the actress’s personal thoughts about fame, choices, and staying true to oneself. For now, Surbhi seems content embracing characters on screen rather than living under constant public scrutiny inside a reality TV house.
