Popular actor Sudhanshu Pandey, who recently appeared in the reality show The Traitors, has shocked fans with a heartfelt confession. In a recent interview, he revealed that working in the hit television drama Anupamaa affected his mental health so deeply that he had to take medication and often struggled for days to return to a normal state.
The Challenge of Playing Vanraj Shah
Sudhanshu portrayed Vanraj Shah, a grey-shaded and emotionally intense character in Anupamaa. He explained that diving into such negative and complex roles is not easy, and returning to real life takes time and emotional effort.
In a candid conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actor said, “There were emotional scenes that really drained me. Sometimes it would take me days to come out of them. That’s why in Hollywood, actors often require rehab. As an actor, you need to know where to draw the line.”
The Struggles Behind the Camera
Despite considering himself a mentally balanced person, Sudhanshu admitted that going deep into character would often leave him emotionally exhausted. His dedication to his roles, whether on TV or OTT platforms, pushed him to extremes.
“I’ve been in such dark and emotional spaces during Anupamaa that it deeply impacted me. I even had to take painkillers and mental fatigue medications because I was too immersed in the role,” he added.
Exit Without Explanation
Sudhanshu Pandey was part of Anupamaa for almost four years before suddenly leaving the show in 2024. Interestingly, he has never officially disclosed the reason behind his exit.
