The entertainment world has seen many stars rise to fame and suddenly disappear—but few stories are as spiritual and heart-wrenching as that of Nupur Alankar. Known for her roles in popular TV shows like Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo and Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyan, Nupur was a familiar face in Indian households. Yet, at the peak of her career, she made an unexpected decision — she renounced everything in 2022 to live the life of a saint, now known as Peetambara Maa.
Why Did Nupur Alankar Leave Everything Behind?
In a candid conversation with Tele Talk India, Nupur revealed how a series of life-changing events pushed her toward spirituality. She said she always maintained a disciplined lifestyle, even during her acting days, but after facing deep personal and financial hardships, her faith grew stronger, leading her toward renunciation and devotion.
The Bank Scam That Shattered Her World
Recalling the PMC Bank scam, Nupur described it as the darkest phase of her life. The financial crisis hit her hard, leaving her struggling to survive. “Everything about my life is on Google,” she said. “It all began with the PMC Bank scam. The harsh realities that followed shook me completely. My mother fell ill soon after, and financial issues made things worse. Losing my mother and then my sister—my only support system—left me devastated.”
Loss and Liberation: Turning Pain into Peace
After the deaths of her mother and sister, Nupur withdrew from worldly life. “I had already started detaching myself from this material world,” she explained. “I had no interest in the pleasures of life anymore. I sought permission from my close ones and chose the spiritual path.” Today, Nupur lives a peaceful life devoted to meditation, simplicity, and service—far from the glamour of television that once defined her.
