Samay Raina has been at the center of conversations ever since the India’s Got Latent controversy stirred up online debates. The comedian, known for his sharp wit and unapologetic humor, found himself pulled into a whirlwind when the show’s controversial remarks by influencers Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija grabbed headlines. Multiple FIRs were filed following those incidents, and though Samay wasn’t directly responsible, the ripple effect reached him too.

In a candid conversation on a new podcast, Samay sat down with Revant Himatsingka, popularly known as Food Pharmer. The discussion took an interesting turn when Samay casually asked, “Do you think someone like me should avoid drinking Coke and pretend to promote only water in public?” The question wasn’t just playful banter but a reflection on how public figures are expected to curate their image, especially around younger audiences.

Food Pharmer, known for his health advocacy, suggested that such actions might affect impressionable kids aged 8 to 10. Without hesitation, Samay gave a bold reply. He stated, “If children that young are watching me, then their parents have failed.”

Samay didn’t stop there. He went on to share glimpses from his childhood, explaining how discipline shaped his perspective. He recalled that his parents, particularly his father, maintained strict rules around the kind of content he consumed. He admitted, “When I was that age, my father would beat me if I watched television.” The comedian added that because of this, he stayed away from television during his early years and believed his father did the right thing by setting boundaries.

According to him, the responsibility lies more with parents than influencers or celebrities. He argued that he could only be true to himself and shouldn’t be expected to filter his behavior to suit every age group. Samay expressed that if he wished to influence anyone, it would be by setting an example of honesty rather than manufactured perfection.

This conversation comes on the heels of the India’s Got Latent controversy, where remarks made by Ranveer and Apoorva led to legal action and public outrage. Although Samay wasn’t among those facing FIRs, being associated with the show placed him under scrutiny. In the aftermath, many wondered how he would navigate the situation, given his often edgy and unfiltered style.

Whether one agrees with his views or not, his fearless honesty continues to keep him in the spotlight, and for now, it seems he wouldn’t have it any other way.
