Anupamaa actress Rupali Ganguly, known for her fearless opinions on social and national matters, has voiced her stand in the middle of a fresh controversy involving Diljit Dosanjh. The issue began when reports surfaced claiming that Diljit was dropped from the upcoming film Border 2. Though no official announcement has been made, speculations suggest it’s linked to his latest film, Sardaarji 3, and the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir.
Rupali didn’t hold back. Taking to social media, she expressed her anger and disappointment. In her words, “Border was a film that evoked deep patriotism among the people of our nation. It’s truly disheartening and frustrating to see an actor in Border 2 who fails to recognize his responsibilities towards the country.” She praised the makers for what she called a firm and clear decision. Rupali added, “A film that celebrates our soldiers and national pride must reflect that spirit in every aspect. No room for confused loyalties in a film about national pride. Jai Hind.”

The reaction came soon after rumors started flying about Diljit’s exit from the much-awaited sequel to the 1997 patriotic film. The original Border holds a special place in Indian cinema for its portrayal of courage and sacrifice of soldiers during the Indo-Pak war. Naturally, any controversy connected to its sequel was bound to stir strong emotions.
Fans too joined the discussion online. They commented that any involvement of anti-national elements would not only ruin the sequel but also damage the legacy of the first film. Social media platforms were flooded with similar sentiments, with many standing firmly by Rupali’s side.
Meanwhile, the controversy surrounding Sardaarji 3 continues to grow. The film features Diljit alongside Hania Aamir, a popular actress from Pakistan. This decision hasn’t gone down well with several sections of the Indian film industry. Given the sensitive ties between the two countries, the casting has become a flashpoint.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) also stepped into the matter. In an official letter addressed to the Border 2 production team, they urged producer Bhushan Kumar to reconsider Diljit’s presence in the film. According to the federation, national emotions must be placed above all else, especially in a film like Border 2, which represents the spirit of Indian soldiers.
While the makers of Border 2 have remained silent, the growing pressure from both industry insiders and the public has added weight to the situation. No official clarification has yet been issued regarding Diljit’s role or the future of the project.
