Rahul Sharma, a familiar face in Indian television, recently made his entry into Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, one of the longest-running and most-loved shows on the small screen. The actor, known for his work in Kaal Bhairav – Ek Rahasya and several other serials, has joined the cast after the makers introduced a fresh 7-year leap in the storyline. In the current narrative, his character, Anshuman, steps into Abhira’s life as a new friend and business partner, adding fresh dynamics to the ongoing drama.

In a candid conversation with India Forums, Rahul Sharma opened up about his experience on the sets and the new relationships he’s building with the cast. Talking about his bond with co-star Rohit Purohit, Rahul shared that their friendship has started to blossom. “Rohit ke sath mera acha conversation raha. Abhi 3-4 dino pehle humari bahut achi baat huyi,” he revealed. He expressed genuine admiration for Rohit, acknowledging how hard he has worked to reach where he is today. According to Rahul, Rohit’s dedication over the years deserves every bit of the recognition he’s receiving now.
The actor then spoke about his interactions with Samridhii Shukla, who plays Abhira in the show. Rahul admitted that, so far, he hasn’t been able to bond much with her. He explained that meaningful connections don’t happen overnight and need time to develop. “Main ye kahunga ke dekho bond toh abhi chalu hua hai bann na,” he said honestly. In his words, friendships on set usually take two to three months, shaped by shared conversations and memorable moments. He also mentioned that Samridhii is an introvert by nature and it might take a while before she feels comfortable opening up to him.
Recalling his first day on the show, Rahul was grateful for the warm welcome he received from veteran actress Anita Raaj. Her kind gesture eased his initial nervousness and made him feel at home amidst the established cast.
The actor didn’t hold back while talking about the tough times he’s faced in his career. Rahul disclosed that before landing this role, he experienced a particularly difficult phase where he lost out on eight to nine shows consecutively. “Aap har ek show se nikale jaa rahe ho, nikale bhi as in, aapko le liya gaya hai, aap kal shoot karne wale ho, aap ke paas message aaya bhi aagaya hai, lekin aapko pata chalta hai ke dusra banda aagaya hai, aap ke sath shoot nahi kiya aur achanak se shoot, kyun hua aisa?” he shared, exposing the harsh realities of the industry.
Rahul mentioned that it wasn’t just work-related losses that troubled him during that period. Something else in his personal life also felt lost, making those days even more difficult. However, he has gradually overcome those challenges and is now embracing this new chapter in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai with hope and resilience.
