The Indian Idol 12 winner, known for his soulful voice and humble nature, met with a grave road mishap on May 5 in the early hours. The singer, only 28, was on his way to catch a flight for an event in Ahmedabad when his journey took a tragic turn.
Pawandeep, accompanied by his friend Ajay Mehra and their driver Rahul Singh, was traveling in an MG Hector. The group had started from Champawat, Uttarakhand, with their destination set for Noida. It was on this route, near Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, that the unfortunate incident took place. According to police officials investigating the scene, the driver reportedly dozed off while at the wheel, losing control of the car in the process. The vehicle collided with the rear end of an Eicher Canter truck, resulting in a major crash.
Eyewitnesses at the location described the wreckage as severe. Locals quickly gathered, and authorities reached the site to assist the injured. All three, Pawandeep, Ajay, and Rahul sustained multiple injuries. However, Pawandeep’s condition was particularly concerning. He suffered several fractures, especially in his limbs, and additional smaller injuries. Medical responders first transported them to a nearby government hospital for immediate aid. But due to the seriousness of Pawandeep’s wounds, he was soon shifted to a private medical facility and later transferred to a reputed hospital in Delhi NCR.
As fans and well-wishers anxiously awaited updates, Pawandeep’s team finally addressed the situation through an official statement on his Instagram story. The message confirmed the earlier reports about the accident and clarified the events of that difficult day. It detailed how Pawandeep underwent a marathon surgery lasting six hours to treat some of his major fractures. The team mentioned the severity of his condition, revealing that he spent an entire day battling extreme pain and unconsciousness before doctors could proceed with operations.
His team shared in the statement, “Hi everyone, as you all are aware that Pawandeep Rajan met with a tragic road accident on 5th May early morning near Moradabad, UP while he was on his way to Delhi to catch a flight to Ahmedabad for an event.” The note further added that after an initial operation at a nearby facility, Pawandeep was shifted to a hospital with better equipment and care.
Medical experts performed several procedures on him, and although some fractures have been successfully operated on, more surgeries remain. The message informed followers that in the next three to four days, doctors plan to perform additional operations. “Yesterday was a very difficult and hard day for the family and all his well wishers,” the team stated, highlighting the intense strain on everyone close to the singer.
