Pawandeep Rajan, the talented singer and winner of Indian Idol 12, met with a terrible accident on Monday, May 5. The unfortunate incident left him and his companions with severe injuries. Pawandeep, who has won hearts with his soulful voice, is now fighting a tough battle in a hospital.
The initial reports claimed the accident happened in Ahmedabad. However, the latest update revealed that the mishap took place in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. Pawandeep, 28, a native of Champawat in Uttarakhand, was travelling from his hometown to Noida. He was on his way for a program, accompanied by his friend Ajay Mehra and driver Rahul Singh. The three were in an MG Hector when the accident occurred.
As per the investigation details shared by police officers, Rahul Singh, who was behind the wheel, reportedly dozed off while driving. He lost control of the car, which then collided with the rear of a stationary Eicher Canter truck. The collision was so severe that it left the vehicle badly damaged. A large crowd quickly gathered at the crash site. Locals rushed to help and called for assistance. Police teams soon reached the spot for rescue operations.
All three passengers in the car sustained serious injuries. Among them, Pawandeep’s condition was the most critical. He suffered fractures in both his legs and also sustained a head injury. Locals and police immediately shifted them to a government hospital for urgent medical care. But due to the severity of their injuries, they were later moved to the ICU of a private hospital.
Pawandeep’s family, deeply worried about his condition, took charge of his treatment. Arrangements were made to transfer him to Fortis Hospital in Noida, where he is currently receiving specialized care. The hospital’s orthopaedics team is handling his case. Reports suggest that Pawandeep is conscious and stable but will require multiple surgeries to recover from his injuries.
Gajraula police station house officer Akhilesh Pradhan stated that investigations are still ongoing. Deputy Superintendent of Police Shwetabh Bhaskar also shared updates on the matter. He said, “Both damaged vehicles have been seized. Further action will be taken after receiving a written complaint.”
Sources close to the family revealed that Pawandeep will remain under close medical supervision for the next few weeks. Doctors have advised rest and a series of surgeries to fix the fractures in his legs. While the road to recovery seems long, Pawandeep’s condition being stable has come as a relief to everyone.
