The much-talked-about game reality show The Traitors has finally begun, and viewers seem hooked on its intriguing format and star-studded lineup. Among the contestants is Nikita Luther, a well-known professional poker player, who marked her debut in the entertainment world through this show. In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, Nikita opened up about her journey, upcoming twists, and what made her say yes to a show she almost turned down.
During the conversation, Nikita revealed a spoiler that could change the entire course of the show. When asked if her re-entry would shake up the dynamics, she didn’t hold back. She admitted, “They gave me an advantage that I can’t be voted out or I can’t be killed by the traitors. I give you a small spoiler: this didn’t happen with anyone else at any point. I get this advantage throughout the season.” This edge makes her presence in the game even more thrilling.
Speaking about her equation with Elnaaz Norouzi, Nikita hinted that something major was about to unfold. Though she avoided giving away the full details, she mentioned there would be a significant moment involving the two. Nikita hinted, “I can’t reveal a spoiler, but there is one big thing that will happen again, only with me. I’m excited for the audience to watch that unfold.”
The poker pro also teased that a big episodic event would soon take place on the show. Though she clarified it wasn’t exactly a ‘power’, she explained it was a major turning point for her. She shared how she took a strategic decision in advance, choosing to stay several moves ahead of others in the game.
When asked whether she expected to return to The Traitors as a wild card, Nikita admitted she was kept in the dark. She explained that after her elimination, the makers had shifted her to a separate hotel. Her phone was taken away, and she wasn’t told what was happening next. Nikita shared how she was informed that shooting was underway and everyone was occupied. She admitted feeling disappointed when she wasn’t allowed to head back home. It was only after a day or so that she sensed something was up. She guessed she might be returning, and soon enough, she was back on the show.
Nikita also described how she was approached for The Traitors. She received a call from Prime Video, and several interview rounds followed. The makers, she revealed, adopted a scientific process to assess the participants’ psychological fitness for the game’s format. She disclosed that the team was specifically looking for someone with sharp strategic skills, which made her a fitting choice.
Interestingly, Nikita was initially hesitant about joining. She confessed she didn’t think it would be a show of this scale. She admitted, “The way other reality shows are, they are basically trashy, so I’m a self-respecting person. I’m not going to expose myself to people abusing you on camera, people like coming from nowhere and showing you a finger or something like that.”
Nikita shared how she values her integrity and wasn’t willing to compromise on it for any show. The makers, however, convinced her it wouldn’t be like other reality shows and explained it was designed as an intelligent, mind-based game. She was told there would be drama, but it would remain within boundaries and without toxic fights.
She went on to reveal that while shooting, situations did get tense at times. There were moments when arguments became heated among contestants. Nikita mentioned, “Once or twice while filming the show, things started getting out of hand.” She disclosed that though the production team usually avoided interacting with the players during filming, they stepped in only when situations risked escalating beyond control.
She also revealed that a major altercation broke out between the younger female contestants, prompting the makers to intervene. They warned everyone that the show wasn’t meant for ugly fights or loud outbursts. Nikita felt reassured after this and was glad to be part of a show focused on strategy and skill rather than meaningless drama.
