Addressing the incident during a chat with The Filmy Charcha, the actor cleared the air and shared the real story behind the viral video. Neil said the incident was completely misunderstood and presented in a way that damaged his image for the sake of social media engagement. He expressed disappointment that people jumped to conclusions without knowing the actual situation. Neil added that his dignity was at stake because the footage made it appear as though he was angry with Anushka, which was far from reality.
Recalling the moment, Neil described the events of that evening. It was around 10:30 to 11 PM when the video was captured. His father happened to be in the same room during that time. Neil shared that before leaving, he had asked his father if he had eaten. When his father replied that he hadn’t, Neil decided to step out and get food for him. At that very moment, Anushka Sen entered the room.
Neil revealed that he casually asked Anushka if she had eaten anything. He explained, “Utne mai Anushka aayi toh maine Anushka se pucha, ‘Beta, have you eaten your food?’ Kyuki subah se maine usse bhi nahi khaate hue kuch dekha hai.” He said it was a simple gesture of concern since he hadn’t seen her eat the entire day. Neil mentioned that people work continuously for long hours, and it’s only natural to check in on each other.
He further said he asked Anushka if she had eaten as it was already 11 PM. When Anushka replied that she hadn’t, he suggested that she grab something to eat. Neil emphasized that this normal exchange was twisted by some to look like a heated argument. Praising Anushka, Neil called her a wonderful person and added, “She is such a sweet girl. She is so loving.” He said there was no possible reason for him to shout at her.
