Kush Shah, the familiar face behind Goli from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, recently opened up about his fondest memories from the show that defined his teenage years. Having spent over 16 years on the iconic comedy series, Kush left the beloved sitcom last year to chase academic dreams in the United States. Even now, his heart remains attached to the time spent on those lively sets, especially one unforgettable day when Bollywood royalty walked through their doors.
During a conversation on the Just Kidding with Sid podcast, Kush revisited a series of memories. Among all the special experiences, nothing compared to the day Shah Rukh Khan visited the TMKOC set. The superstar had arrived to promote Happy New Year, and it turned into an entire day of bonding and surprises.
Kush described that while numerous celebrities had visited over the years, SRK’s presence was something else. Sharing the remarkable experience, he said, “There have been many favourite moments. But one that has been most memorable was working with SRK. I have been lucky to have worked with Shah Rukh Khan.” The actor recalled meeting the superstar not once, but on three different occasions for Happy New Year, Chennai Express, and Dilwale promotions.
What made the day unforgettable wasn’t just the star power, but the warmth Shah Rukh brought along. Kush vividly remembered that SRK didn’t just shoot his scenes and leave, like most stars. Instead, he stayed for a staggering 12 hours on set, mingling with the cast and crew. According to Kush, no other celebrity had spent so much time with them before. He narrated how hunger struck around 4 in the morning, and in a simple, heartwarming gesture, SRK sent his driver to fetch idlis and vadas from a roadside vendor. The whole group, along with the superstar, sat together enjoying the late-night South Indian snack, and that spontaneous moment turned into one of Kush’s cherished memories.
The surprises didn’t stop there. Kush revealed another surreal moment from that night. The cast joined Shah Rukh in his vanity van where they watched a Kolkata Knight Riders IPL match. For Kush, it felt unreal to casually sit alongside the superstar, watching cricket and chatting about life. He expressed how surreal the experience felt and added that those small, genuine interactions with SRK left a lasting impact on everyone present.
Having worked with many stars over the years, Kush admitted he was never the type to get starstruck. Celebrities came and went, and for him, it was always part of the job. However, Shah Rukh Khan’s presence broke through that wall of professional detachment. Kush openly confessed that SRK’s aura was impossible to ignore. What stood out to him was the actor’s discipline and commitment. Kush mentioned how the star would not only learn his own lines but also memorise others’ dialogues and every detail of the scene. According to Kush, “30 page ki script hai unko ratta hai,” reflecting SRK’s dedication and respect for his craft.
Though Kush now finds himself in a different country, focused on academic pursuits, these memories from his TMKOC days remain etched in his mind. Even years later, for Kush, those moments remain golden.
