Tensions between India and Pakistan have reached a boiling point. The tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has left the two nations on edge. On April 22, 2025, 26 innocent tourists lost their lives in a brutal strike. The Resistance Front (TRF), reportedly backed by the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility. The tragedy shook the entire country and led to swift retaliation from India.
In response, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7. The military action reportedly targeted nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Cities like Bahawalpur and Muridke witnessed intense missile strikes. Reports later revealed that these strikes resulted in 31 civilian deaths and left 46 others injured. The situation rapidly escalated as Pakistan retaliated with drone and missile attacks on Indian cities. The Indian defense intercepted many of them using the S-400 missile system, avoiding further casualties.
This rising conflict has now stretched beyond borders and battlefields. The film and entertainment industry has found itself caught in the storm. Amid all this, Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s comments have drawn sharp reactions. Known for his roles in Indian cinema, the actor took to his social media to condemn the Pahalgam attack. He expressed his sorrow for the families of those killed and injured, calling the event a shameful act.
Fawad, in his note, appealed for restraint in words and actions. He requested everyone to avoid “stoking the flames with rabble-rousing words.” He ended his statement with “May better sense prevail. InshaAllah. Pakistan Zindabad!” That final line became the breaking point for many in India. The inclusion of a patriotic slogan at a time of crisis didn’t sit well.
Television star Rupali Ganguly was among the first celebrities to react. The Anupamaa lead actress didn’t mince her words. Through her social media, she directly addressed Fawad’s remarks, stating “Your working in Indian films was also ‘shameful’ for us.” Her post quickly went viral, sparking conversations across digital platforms.
As the situation worsened, Rupali didn’t stop at a single post. She shared another message aimed at India’s leadership. In her words, “Enough is enough. Modiji, destroy them completely.” Her straightforward demand reflected the anger felt by many citizens after the attack.

Further showing her support for national security efforts, Rupali commended the government’s recent moves to curb Pakistan-based content. She praised the digital restrictions, writing, “Hats off to Modi Govt for banning Pak streaming content! In times of tension, we must protect our digital borders.” Her message aligned with the government’s decision to tighten control over cross-border content and communications.

Meanwhile, calls for banning Fawad Khan’s upcoming film Abir Gulaal in India have grown louder. Many argued that there’s no place for collaboration in times like these. Industry insiders hinted that distributors are reconsidering their plans for the film’s release.
