After years of nostalgic reruns and countless fan petitions, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is finally making a grand return to television. Ekta Kapoor’s cult family drama, once a staple in Indian households, is getting a second season. This reboot promises to bring back some of the most beloved characters and faces, including Smriti Irani as Tulsi and Amar Upadhyay as Mihir. Fans who once lived the highs and lows of the Virani family are eagerly counting days to witness the saga unfold once more.
Adding to the excitement, Hiten Tejwani has officially confirmed his return. Speaking to an entertainment portal, Hiten revealed he would reprise his role as Karan Virani, a character deeply intertwined with the family’s complex relationships. He also confirmed that his wife, Gauri Pradhan, would be back as Nandini. The duo’s onscreen chemistry was once a major highlight of the show’s original run, and their return feels like a piece of history reviving itself.
Hiten admitted that life feels a bit like the early 2000s again. He shared that managing multiple shows at once, like he used to back then, is back on his plate. Even though his schedule is packed, the excitement of returning to Kyunki overshadows any exhaustion. Hiten confessed he hasn’t yet spoken to Smriti Irani or Ekta Kapoor, but he eagerly awaits those reunions. Reflecting on this unexpected opportunity, Hiten expressed, “Socha nahi tha ke aisa mauka milega. Log chahte the ke aaye wapis, unki dua hain aur Ekta ma’am ka vision hai. Ab mujhe wo jeene me bhi maza aayega. Suna hai ki 3rd July se start ho raha hai, aage ki kahaan Ekta ma’am ki zubaani. Bohot excited hoon main.”
Interestingly, this reboot isn’t a never-ending soap like the original. Reports suggest that the new chapter will run for 150 episodes. The decision comes from the producer’s desire to wrap up the story the original show left incomplete. Back then, Kyunki ended while it was 150 episodes away from crossing the remarkable 2,000-episode mark. This reboot aims to fill that gap while giving fans a well-rounded, satisfying conclusion.
While old favourites are stepping back into their iconic roles, rumours swirled about new faces joining the Virani clan. One of them was Sudhanshu Pandey, famous for his role as Vanraj Shah in Anupamaa. Word was that Sudhanshu might replace Amar Upadhyay as Mihir Virani. However, the actor promptly denied these claims. In a recent interview, he clarified that while someone from Balaji Telefilms did call him, he was never informed about any specific role. Sudhanshu shared that he merely asked about the remuneration being offered and left the conversation there. The actor made it clear that beyond that inquiry, no further talks happened.
The date, 3rd July 2025, isn’t just a launch day, it marks the 25th anniversary of the show’s original debut. A perfect moment to revive old memories and create new ones.
