Hina Khan has never shied away from speaking her truth. Known for her bold opinions and fearless voice on social issues, the actress recently addressed a tragic incident from her home state of Kashmir. A horrifying case of sexual assault and murder in Nishat, Srinagar shook the region.
Taking to her Instagram stories, Hina poured her heart out over three powerful posts. She didn’t just express grief; she dissected the layers of ignorance, denial, and dangerous narratives that follow such crimes. In her message, she questioned people’s understanding of terms like sexual assault and rape. “Can someone for god’s sake teach these Morons the Difference between sexual assault and rape.. A Rape is a Rape. A Murder is a Murder,” she wrote, frustrated with how society often downplays these horrors depending on labels.
Hina pointed out how many people tend to shift the blame when discussing crimes like these. Alcohol, she noted, is frequently dragged in as a convenient excuse, almost a shield to deflect attention from the criminal. She made it clear that a person under the influence is still accountable. “A Rapist blames everything else than Himself. Don’t act like that Criminal. Don’t use Alcohol to give the Criminal a ‘Free Get Away Card’.”
The actress went on to criticize the habit of linking such crimes to religion, clothing, or geography. She stressed that monsters exist everywhere and in every community. “Good Men can Handle Alcohol just as they Handle Superior Physical Power compared to a Woman, they use it to Protect Women.” With this, Hina highlighted the twisted narratives often built around such crimes, narratives that excuse monsters instead of holding them accountable.
As someone who hails from Kashmir herself, Hina’s connection to the issue runs deep. She didn’t stop at addressing the crime alone. In one of her heartfelt notes, she urged her own people, especially Kashmiri Muslims to pause, reflect, and allow others the space to grieve. Hina pleaded for a moment of humanity amid all the chaos. “Lastly My humble request to all Muslim men, women, and grown-ups in the country especially in Kashmir.. There are insane faceless trollers in every community who cross the line and spit venom, but please understand most of the people from another community are genuinely upset, people are hurt, people are furious.”
She reminded her followers that beyond faith and politics, people are mourning. The pain is raw, and the wounds are deep. Hina called for restraint on social media, asking her community not to respond to hate with more hate. She wasn’t demanding apologies or forced statements but simple decency. “If you can’t say anything good, positive then at- least STFU and sit down..” she wrote, making it clear that silence is better than spreading venom.
In the past, Hina has spoken about terrorist attacks and social unrest in Kashmir. This incident, however, touched a nerve like no other. While most celebrities chose a careful silence, she stepped up to remind everyone that crimes like these should never be muted, twisted, or politically colored.
