Varun Sood grew up in a family where discipline, duty, and service were a way of life. Both his grandfather and father served in the Indian Army, and naturally, the idea of wearing the uniform felt like a calling. From a young age, Varun believed his future lay along the same path. He imagined a career rooted in tradition, honor, and responsibility. But fate had a different script waiting for him.

At 19, a simple, almost impulsive decision flipped his world. The young man, eager for a motorbike his mother refused to buy, spotted an opportunity. That opportunity came in the form of a long-running Indian reality show that had, for years, drawn in thousands of young hopefuls: Roadies. It was a one-off adventure before heading towards the Army exams.

Speaking about that moment, Varun candidly admitted his reason for auditioning. “I purely went as I wanted a bike and mom was not giving it to me despite me requesting a lot. So I thought wow if I win the show, I do decently well on the show, I’ll get a bike.” What began as a lighthearted ambition slowly shifted into something bigger.

His audition experience, however, was anything but easy. He recalled waiting in endless lines, sometimes for six to eight hours. The heat, the crowds, the chaos all part of the Roadies audition culture. Stampedes weren’t rare, and contestants braved it all for a shot at stardom. Varun remembered thinking that if things didn’t work out, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. His Army plans still felt intact at the time.

But destiny took its turn after the show. Post-Roadies, Varun received a contract from MTV. Slowly, the thrill of the entertainment world began to lure him in. A world once unfamiliar and temporary now started to feel like home.

The actor shared another personal memory from his childhood. He spoke about growing up watching Roadies and being inspired by Rannvijay Singha. “He too was an army kid, and I grew up watching him. So I thought that if I got to be with him on the show, it would be fun and exciting.” It was not just about fame. There was comfort in finding a reflection of his world in someone who had made it big on his own terms.

After Roadies, Varun’s journey in reality TV continued. He became a familiar face on youth-centric shows. Splitsvilla, Ace of Space, and Khatron Ke Khiladi followed. Each appearance added to his growing popularity.

Eventually, Varun ventured into acting. He debuted in Ragini MMS: Returns, embracing the world of web series and digital content. His performances found appreciation in projects like Karmma Calling and the upcoming Call Me Bae. It marked a transition from being a reality TV favorite to an actor carving his own niche.

Today, Varun stands at a place he hadn’t imagined a decade ago. From army barrack dreams to the arc lights of film sets, his story is one of unexpected turns and bold choices. All sparked by a teenage boy’s stubborn wish for a bike and the courage to chase it through an unplanned detour.
