Dipika Kakar, a popular face in Indian television, has finally returned home after an intense health battle. The actress was in the hospital for 11 days following a major surgery for a liver tumour. Her husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim, kept fans informed about her condition through his vlogs. Recently, he shared an emotional health update, confirming that Dipika is now stable and recovering at home.
The actress was diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer, a fact that came as a shock to both the couple and their families. The surgery lasted an exhausting 14 hours. It was a difficult period for Shoaib and his loved ones. In his vlog, he mentioned, “She got discharged after 11 days and has to come for a check-up after a week. These past few days have been incredibly difficult for me and my family, but we’re thankful for everyone’s prayers and support. This is just one part; a lot of things are still ahead.”
On June 12, Dipika finally reunited with her little son, Ruhaan, and other family members. The moment was filled with warmth and happiness. Ruhaan ran around the house with joy, feeling a little shy seeing his mother back home. The family greeted Dipika with immense love. Saba, Shoaib’s sister, gifted her a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Dipika’s mother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and other relatives showered her with blessings and heartfelt wishes.
Dipika’s recovery journey has been slow and careful. Right after the surgery, doctors advised her to begin with a liquid diet. Gradually, she started eating soft solid foods. Shoaib shared that all her post-surgery test reports have shown positive signs so far. Though the road ahead remains long, the family is hopeful.
In the vlog, Dipika opened up about one particular fear she faced during the surgery. She recalled her anxiety regarding the removal of a drain pipe from her neck. When it was inserted before the operation, she wasn’t fully conscious. But knowing that she would be awake during its removal made her uneasy. She admitted that this was the scariest part of the entire experience.
Shoaib expressed how devastating it was when the doctors confirmed that the tumour was malignant. He revealed that both of them, along with their families, broke down upon hearing the news. Yet, he praised the medical team for handling the situation with expertise and compassion. The couple felt deeply grateful for the doctors who supported them through this overwhelming phase. Shoaib stated that the diagnosis was unexpected and hit them hard, but the doctors gave them hope.
Even though Dipika is now home, she will continue to have regular medical check-ups. Her recovery is being closely monitored by specialists. Shoaib mentioned that everything is moving carefully and steadily. The couple is prepared for the long healing process ahead.
