Dipika Kakar, a name loved by television audiences, recently shared heartbreaking news with her fans. The actress, known for her role in Sasural Simar Ka, revealed that she has been diagnosed with stage two liver cancer. The news came after weeks of uncertainty, tests, and hospital visits that left her family and followers deeply concerned.
It all began when Dipika experienced severe pain in the upper part of her stomach. Thinking it was a routine health issue, she sought medical attention. What followed turned her life upside down. Doctors discovered a tumor in her left liver, roughly the size of a tennis ball. This alarming find set off a chain of tests and evaluations to determine whether the tumor was cancerous.
On May 16, her husband Shoaib Ibrahim shared this troubling update through social media. He informed fans about the tumor’s presence and how they were waiting for further tests to confirm its nature. The days that followed were filled with hospital stays, medical scans, and prayers from friends and followers.
A few days later, Dipika herself chose to address the situation. Taking to her Instagram, she posted a heartfelt note, opening up about the ordeal. In her message, she described the moment she walked into the hospital complaining of pain, only to discover something much more serious. “As you all are aware last few weeks have been quite difficult for us… walking into the hospital for pain in the upper area of my stomach… and then finding out its a tennis ball size tumour in the liver and then Finding out that the tumour is Second stage Malignant (Cancerous)… it has been one of the most difficult times we have seen, experienced!” she wrote.
Despite the shock, Dipika expressed her determination to stay strong. In her note, she added, “With my entire family being by my side… and All the LOVE and PRAYERS pouring in from all of you I will sail through this too! InshaAllah Keep me in your prayers! Lots Of Love, Dipika.”
Soon after her announcement, support flooded in from the television industry. Celebrities like Jayati Bhatia, Gaurav Khanna, Shraddha Arya, and Gauahar Khan reached out, sending love and strength. Their messages reflected the warmth and unity within the television fraternity.
For those unaware, Dipika’s hospital visits began when she was admitted with a high fever, reaching 103.9°F. As doctors conducted sonography to investigate the cause, they initially found a stone in her gallbladder, which explained her extreme pain. However, the scans also revealed the tumor in her liver. On May 21, she underwent a PET scan to further assess the tumor. By May 23, Shoaib informed followers that Dipika’s fever had subsided and she was discharged from the hospital.
In a recent vlog, Shoaib and Dipika spoke openly about the events leading up to her diagnosis. They recalled how unbearable the stomach pain had become, prompting immediate medical tests. The couple explained that the discovery of the tumor was completely unexpected, as their focus was initially on treating the gallbladder stone.
Plans were in place for Dipika to undergo tumor removal surgery this week. However, she hasn’t yet shared further details regarding the operation. For now, fans continue to wait, sending her strength through prayers and messages.
While her fight continues, the hope remains that she will overcome this battle, surrounded by the love of family, friends, and admirers.
