After a noticeable two-year break from television, Ashi Singh is finally back on the small screen. The talented actress, much loved for her previous roles, makes her comeback with Ufff… Yeh Love Hai Mushkil. In an exclusive chat with Times of India TV, Ashi spoke openly about the reasons behind her absence and what drew her back.
Ashi admitted that during her time away, she waited patiently for the right kind of work. The offers that came her way failed to excite her.
The actress has always been particular about the roles she accepts. She explained that although television continues to be a space packed with content, not everything aligns with her comfort zone or creative vision. She felt there was no point taking up something she wasn’t passionate about, just for the sake of being visible.
Ashi described how fortunate she feels for the characters she’s portrayed in the past. The actress reflected on her TV journey, stating, “I know there is a lot of content on TV which I might not want to do and I am not comfortable doing. But then whatever work I have done, I really found it very good. Whatever characters I got on TV, I know that people don’t get to do in films. So I feel and consider myself to be very lucky that way.”
She firmly believes that television shaped her career and gave her opportunities she deeply values. She remarked, “So for me, TV was never down or up. It was always here, it got me whatever I have.”
Returning now with Ufff… Yeh Love Hai Mushkil, Ashi takes on the role of Kairi Sharma. The character is a determined young woman from a middle-class Delhi background, someone who dreams of becoming a lawyer while remaining grounded in her family’s values. The character’s journey intertwines ambition with tradition, which is something Ashi found irresistible.
Speaking about why she agreed to be a part of this project, she said it was both the character and the fresh storytelling approach that grabbed her attention. “My character and definitely the take of the story which is quite different. We are trying that it should be interestingly different with emotions, fun, conflict, love, and family drama, so every age group can connect to the show,” she expressed.
Starring opposite Shabir Ahluwalia, who plays Yug, a layered and intriguing character, Ashi’s comeback promises a compelling on-screen pairing. Audiences can look forward to an engaging dynamic between the two leads, filled with warmth, tension, and evolving emotions.
The show’s creators aim to deliver a story that resonates with a wide audience. It brings together elements of romance, family struggles, emotional bonds, and personal ambitions in a way that feels contemporary yet rooted in tradition. Ashi hopes this balance will strike a chord with viewers of all ages.
