The popular television show Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly, has captured the hearts of viewers across the country. However, a sudden and shocking incident has left the entertainment industry stunned.

In the early hours of Monday, June 23, a massive fire broke out on the sets of Anupamaa. The accident happened at Film City, Goregaon, where the show has been filming for years. Reports confirm that the fire started around 5 am when preparations for the day’s shoot were underway. The crew was expected to begin filming in a couple of hours when the mishap occurred.

Eyewitnesses shared that flames quickly spread through the set, destroying major parts of the shooting area. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported so far. However, the situation could have turned far worse if the shooting had started as planned. Several crew members and workers were already present on location when the fire broke out, creating a tense and dangerous situation.

As news of the fire made headlines, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) stepped forward with a strong and pointed response. In a detailed statement released on X, formerly known as Twitter, AICWA raised serious concerns about safety measures at filming locations. The association confirmed that multiple workers were on set during the mishap. Their post highlighted that the situation had the potential to be ‘catastrophic’ if the shoot had begun.

The president of AICWA, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, reacted firmly to the incident. He called for an immediate and thorough investigation. In his demand for accountability, he insisted that a high-level inquiry must be conducted to determine the exact cause of the fire and identify those responsible for the negligence. Gupta didn’t stop there. He urged the authorities to suspend the Managing Director of Film City and the Labour Commissioner of Mumbai with immediate effect.

“AICWA has also called for a criminal FIR to be filed against the producers, the production house, the television channel, as well as the Film City Managing Director and Labour Commissioner,” the association stated. This demand was made public through their official post, reflecting the growing frustration over repeated safety lapses on film and television sets.

As of now, neither Rupali Ganguly nor other cast members have commented on the incident. The makers of Anupamaa are yet to release an official statement addressing the situation.

This fire incident has raised several alarming questions about safety protocols in the entertainment industry. Fires on sets have occurred in the past, and each time, promises are made about stricter guidelines and better precautions. Yet, accidents like this continue to take place.
