The Traitors has fast become one of the most talked-about reality shows in India, with its unique format and emotionally intense challenges. Among its star-studded contestants was Anshula Kapoor. In an honest conversation with Pinkvilla, Anshula reflected on one particular mission that left her emotionally wrecked and triggered memories she had tried hard to bury.

The Death March Mission That Changed Everything

The show, set against the haunting backdrop of Jaisalmer, pushed contestants through mind games and trust-breaking tasks. But for Anshula, it wasn’t just a game. She described how the eighth episode became a personal nightmare. That day, after a fellow contestant was eliminated, the remaining participants were sent on a mission called the ‘Death March’. This challenge took place in an isolated area known for its tragic past, and Anshula said the entire setup felt painfully familiar.

Reliving Personal Grief on National Television

Speaking about the emotionally taxing task, Anshula revealed that the mission was designed to mimic the steps of a funeral procession. The way the environment was crafted, the eerie silence, the grim tasks, and the symbolism took her back to the most traumatic moment of her life. She shared, “I’m reliving my mother’s funeral. I’m reliving having burnt my mother’s funeral pyre.Because that was the environment that they created.”

She recounted how the person ‘murdered’ in the game fell dramatically into a tomb, intensifying the already disturbing atmosphere. After the mission ended, Anshula and fellow contestant Jasmine Bhasin sat in silence during their ride back to the hotel in Suryagarh. Neither spoke a word, both visibly shaken by what they had just experienced.

Anshula’s Emotional Outburst in the Video Diary Room

Later that evening, the production team wanted to record their reactions in a video diary. Anshula admitted she couldn’t hold back. She confessed, “Maine kaafi badtameezi ki hogi ye video diary mai. Kyuki mai chidi hui thi, mai gussa thi.” She explained that she was overwhelmed with anger and frustration because the mission crossed an emotional line she didn’t expect the show to breach.

Anshula revealed that this moment was, by far, the worst day for her on the entire show. She criticized how the makers handled the situation and the psychological strain it caused. “It was one of the worst days on the show for me, and I am glad that it was my last day on that show,” she admitted.

Her exit from The Traitors happened that very evening during the Circle of Shaq, a crucial elimination round in the game. While some might view it as an unfortunate eviction, for Anshula, it was a relief. She confessed that staying any longer after such a harrowing experience would’ve been unbearable.

Her revelation offered audiences a rare glimpse into the darker, often unseen side of reality television. While viewers enjoy the drama and mind games from their screens, few realise the lasting psychological impact these moments can leave on those involved.
