Abhishek Kumar has slowly made his mark in the television industry. From playing small characters to landing lead roles, his journey wasn’t easy. In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Abhishek opened up about a dark phase in his early days in Mumbai. The actor revealed a shocking incident from his struggling period, which left him shattered.

Abhishek spoke about arriving in Mumbai for the first time, filled with hope and excitement. He shared that within six months of moving, an incident happened that broke him completely. He recalled how, soon after reaching the city, a few girls recognised him and took pictures. That moment made him feel he belonged here. He realised then, “I am not going back and will stay in Mumbai.”

But life took a painful turn. Abhishek disclosed that one and a half to two months after his arrival, an incident occurred that scared him deeply. A man made inappropriate advances towards him. Abhishek shared that the person tried to convince him by saying such things were necessary to progress in the industry. Abhishek admitted, “I had heard in interviews that it happens in the industry. I thought it wouldn’t happen in real.”

The incident took place in 2017, around eight years ago. Abhishek was terrified and confused. At that time, he hadn’t even informed his family that he was in Mumbai. His family believed he was in Delhi for training. He kept the truth hidden from them, fearing their reaction and worrying them unnecessarily.

That night, after the horrifying incident, Abhishek gathered the courage to call his mother. His voice shook as he spoke about what had happened. His mother, sensing his distress, immediately told him to come back home. The next day, Abhishek booked a general class train ticket. “I took a train ticket next day. I was sitting in general and I went home crying,” he recalled with pain.

Once home, Abhishek decided to leave the industry for good. He didn’t want to face that world again. He took up a regular job and began earning a modest salary of Rs 7000 per month. For a while, he tried to move past the incident and live a normal life. However, the dream of acting still lingered somewhere in his heart.

Years later, Abhishek slowly found the strength to return to Mumbai and give acting another chance. His resilience and courage eventually paid off, and he started getting roles, gradually making a name for himself in the industry. Despite the trauma, he did not let that incident define his future.

Today, Abhishek Kumar stands as one of the known faces in Indian television. Sharing his story wasn’t easy, but he wanted to let people know about the darker realities many young actors face when they step into the glamour world. His courage to speak up after so many years shows how he turned his pain into strength.
