Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat review

What happens when obsession is mistaken for romance? Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, attempts to answer this question but ends up becoming an unintentional parody of love.

The movie stars Harshvardhan Rane as Vikramaditya Bhonsle — a politician whose infatuation with actress Adaa (Sonam Bajwa) spirals into madness. What begins as admiration soon turns into a disturbing fixation that derails both their lives.

The Story: A Toxic Love Wrapped in Melodrama

Vikramaditya spots Adaa on screen and instantly decides she must be his. When she refuses his advances, her career and personal life crumble under his influence. The film tries to portray this as “Deewaniyat” (mad love), but it feels more like an unhealthy obsession.

From Adaa’s unrealistic portrayal as a superstar living a middle-class life to the absurd political setups, the narrative barely holds together. The film borrows heavily from Tere Naam and Raanjhanaa, yet fails to capture their emotional gravity.

The Screenplay: Absurdity Disguised as Passion

The writing team, Mushtaq Sheikh and Milap Zaveri, craft dialogues that sound poetic but make little sense. In one shocking twist, Adaa publicly declares that she will sleep with anyone who kills Vikram — a moment that pushes the film from dramatic to downright bizarre.

The second half drags endlessly, packed with slow-motion shots and repetitive scenes. Harshvardhan Rane’s brooding presence and Sonam Bajwa’s single-note expressions fail to create any real chemistry.

Performances and Music

Rane, who once played a sensitive lover in Sanam Teri Kasam, struggles to bring depth to this obsessive character. Sonam Bajwa looks stunning but is trapped in a poorly written role.

The film’s music lineup — by Kaushik-Guddu, Kunaal Vermaa, Rajat Nagpal, Rahul Mishra, and DJ Chetas — adds some relief, but the overuse of background score becomes overwhelming.

Verdict: A Love Story That Loses Its Way

In the end, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is less about love and more about lunacy. It’s a film designed for Instagram reels — not for the cinema hall. Despite its ambition to depict passion, it drowns in its own melodrama.
