The mysterious death of popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore has taken a major twist. The CID has arrested Sandeepan Garg, Zubeen’s cousin and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Assam, in connection with the case.
The Suspicious Death in Singapore
Zubeen Garg tragically passed away during a scuba diving session in Singapore, sparking widespread shock among fans and family. Many had questioned how such an incident could occur with an experienced and fit singer like Zubeen. Since then, an intense investigation had been underway.
CID’s Major Breakthrough
After weeks of interrogation, the CID finally made its first high-profile arrest. Special DGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta confirmed to PTI that Zubeen’s cousin Sandeepan Garg was arrested following consistent questioning. The official added that the accused will be presented before the court for remand proceedings soon.
Previous Arrests in the Case
Before this, four others had been arrested — including Shyamkanu Mahanta, Zubeen’s manager Siddharth Sharma, and two band members, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amrit Prabha Mahanta. However, no one had anticipated that a close family member would also be involved.

Fans across India are mourning the singer’s untimely demise, demanding justice and transparency in the investigation. Zubeen Garg, known for his soulful music and cultural contributions, was laid to rest amid massive crowds of grieving admirers.
