Fox has officially cancelled its beloved animated sitcom The Great North after five successful seasons, according to Variety.

Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network, expressed his gratitude toward the show’s creators and cast, saying, “We’re so grateful for everything Wendy, Lizzie, Loren and the amazing cast and crew put into ‘The Great North.’ It’s difficult to say goodbye, but we’re thankful for the five hilarious seasons that enriched the Animation Domination lineup.”

A Look Back at the Journey of The Great North

Premiering in January 2021, The Great North quickly became a fan-favorite for its heartwarming storytelling and quirky humor. The show wrapped up its fifth and final season in September 2025.

The series was the creative brainchild of Bob’s Burgers executive producers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, along with writer Minty Lewis. Bob’s Burgers creator Loren Bouchard also served as an executive producer. Produced by 20th Television Animation and animated by Bento Box Entertainment, the show was known for its unique charm and offbeat Alaskan setting.

The Voice Cast That Brought the Tobin Family to Life

The talented voice cast included Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate, Will Forte, Paul Rust, Aparna Nancherla, Dulce Sloan, Megan Mullally, and Alanis Morissette (as herself).

The official logline described the series as following “the Alaskan adventures of the Tobin family, as single dad Beef (Offerman) tries to keep his kids close — especially his daughter Judy (Slate), whose artistic dreams lead her away from the family fishing boat to the local mall.”

Other characters included Judy’s older brother Wolf (Forte), his wife Honeybee (Sloan), middle brother Ham (Rust), and the youngest, Moon (Nancherla). Judy’s boss Alyson (Mullally) and her celestial confidante Alanis Morissette (voicing herself through the Northern Lights) added more charm to the series’ emotional core.

End of an Era for Fox Animation

With The Great North concluding, fans are left nostalgic for the witty and wholesome humor it brought to Fox’s Animation Domination lineup. While the series may have ended, its heartwarming depiction of family bonds and northern adventures will continue to resonate with audiences.
