  • Legal action threatened if documentary screening proceeds on June 11

Even in death, Sidhu Moose Wala, the late Punjabi rapper and singer, continues to be a powerful figure who stirs emotions across millions of fans. However, a new controversy has emerged involving an upcoming BBC World Service documentary about his life and murder. The documentary is scheduled to be screened on June 11 in Juhu, Mumbai, but the late singer’s father, Balkaur Singh, has raised strong objections and filed a formal complaint.

Complaint Filed Against BBC World Service

According to reports, Balkaur Singh has submitted an official complaint to the Maharashtra DGP and the Juhu Police Station. He alleges that the documentary was created without the family’s consent and includes unverified or potentially defamatory content. He further demanded a complete ban on the screening, citing concerns about damage to his son’s legacy and the ongoing court proceedings related to his death.

Allegations of Unauthorized Interviews

Balkaur Singh revealed that invitations for the screening have already been circulated and that the documentary contains “unseen facts” related to Sidhu Moose Wala’s life and murder. Singh claimed that BBC allegedly interviewed individuals currently named in the ongoing murder case, without any formal approval from the family. This, he argues, could severely impact both public perception and judicial neutrality in the case.

Legal Warning from the Moose Wala Family

The grieving father didn’t stop at a formal complaint. He went a step further to warn of legal proceedings if the screening moves forward. Singh emphasized that if necessary, the family will approach the court to halt the broadcast and protect Sidhu’s image. As of now, neither the BBC nor the local police authorities have issued a public response to these allegations.

Moose Wala’s Third Death Anniversary

It’s worth noting that May 29, 2025, marked the third death anniversary of Sidhu Moose Wala. Even three years after his tragic death, the singer remains a deeply admired and emotional figure in Indian music history. Videos and social media tributes from his family and fans on his anniversary serve as a poignant reminder of his enduring impact.
