The Kannada entertainment industry is mourning the untimely death of comedian and actor Rakesh Poojary, who passed away at the young age of 33. Best known for his win in ‘Comedy Khiladigalu Season 3’, Rakesh reportedly suffered a sudden heart attack while attending a friend’s mehendi ceremony in Karkala, Udupi district.

According to reports, Rakesh suddenly collapsed late Sunday night during the function. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors were unable to revive him. The tragic incident has shocked his fans and colleagues alike.

Tragic Collapse at Wedding Event

The unfortunate incident occurred near Nitte in Karkala, where Rakesh was attending a pre-wedding celebration of a close friend. Eyewitnesses stated that he suddenly lost consciousness, creating panic at the event. He was taken to a local hospital, but sadly declared dead on arrival.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death at the Karkala Town Police Station.

Rise to Fame Through Comedy

Rakesh Poojary rose to prominence after winning the third season of Zee Kannada’s reality show ‘Comedy Khiladigalu’ in 2020. His performance earned him recognition across Karnataka, making him a household name. Prior to that, he had been a runner-up in Season 2 of the same show in 2018.

Rakesh had shared a photo from the mehendi ceremony on his Instagram story shortly before his death, which is now being widely circulated in remembrance. Actress and judge of the comedy show, Rakshitha, expressed her heartfelt condolences on social media:

Rakesh Poojary was also involved in theatre and film. He began his artistic journey with the Chaitanya Kalavidaru theatre group. In 2014, he appeared in the Tulu reality show ‘Kadale Bajjilu’. Over the years, he featured in several films including:
