The central government has approved Y+ category security for Bhojpuri actor and BJP member Pawan Singh, just weeks before the Bihar assembly elections.
According to officials, Singh will now be accompanied by 11 security personnel, including armed commandos and personal officers, at all times. The Y+ security category is granted to individuals considered under significant threat, ranking just below the Z category.
Pawan Singh’s Political Entry in BJP
Popularly known as the “Power Star” of Bhojpuri cinema, Pawan Singh officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on October 5, after meeting party president JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
Sources within the party suggest that Singh might be fielded from either Ara or Karakat constituencies, both politically crucial areas in the upcoming elections.
Bihar Gears Up for Two-Phase Polls
The Bihar Assembly Elections are set to take place in two phases — November 6 and 11. The Election Commission has announced an ambitious target of 60% voter turnout this year.
Personal Controversy Adds to Spotlight
Beyond his political debut, Singh has also made headlines for personal reasons. His wife, Jyoti Singh, recently accused him of mental harassment and went live on social media during a visit to his Lucknow residence, claiming she was under severe stress and contemplating suicide. Local police were reportedly present during the incident.
