In a significant development, Ola Electric’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has been granted relief in the ongoing suicide case of a 38-year-old engineer, K. Aravind. The Karnataka High Court has instructed Bengaluru Police not to harass Aggarwal or other Ola executives in the name of investigation.
The case had been filed against Bhavish Aggarwal and senior executive Subrata Kumar Das for allegedly abetting Aravind’s suicide. The late engineer had joined Ola Electric in 2022 as a homologation engineer.
Court Orders: No Harassment During Investigation
Justice Mohammad Nawaz, in an order passed last week, emphasized that police probing the case at Subramanyapura Police Station should not trouble the petitioners, including Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola Electric, and Subrata Kumar Das, under the guise of investigation.
According to reports by Hindustan Times, the court specifically noted that the petitioners should not face harassment during the ongoing inquiry.
Allegations and Family Complaint
The case was lodged after K. Aravind’s elder brother, K. Ashwin, filed a complaint alleging that Aravind faced repeated harassment, humiliation, and delays in salary payments at the workplace. Ashwin claimed that these pressures ultimately drove Aravind to take his own life. Ola Electric has contested the FIR in court, and the matter is currently under consideration in the Karnataka High Court.
Ola Electric Responds
In an official statement, Ola Electric clarified that during Aravind’s three-year tenure, he never filed any complaints of harassment against the company or its employees. The company also stated that Aravind’s role did not involve direct interactions with top management.
Tragic Incident
On 28 September 2025, Aravind allegedly consumed poison at his Chikkalasandra apartment in an attempt to end his life. He was immediately admitted to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, but despite medical efforts, he could not be saved. Reports indicate that Aravind left behind a suicide note detailing serious allegations against the company and its staff.
The case continues to unfold, and legal proceedings in the Karnataka High Court are ongoing, keeping both the corporate and public communities on edge.
