A major controversy has erupted over Ullu App’s reality show House Arrest, after a disturbing clip went viral on social media. The video features host Ejaz Khan allegedly using indecent language and pressuring female contestants into objectionable acts. In response, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken serious note of the matter.

NCW has issued summons to Ullu App CEO Vibhu Agarwal and actor Ejaz Khan, directing them to appear before the commission on May 9, 2025. The Commission highlighted that the clip showcases content that violates women’s dignity and promotes a misogynistic mindset.

Viral Clip Triggers Outrage

The controversial video clip, now widely circulated online, shows Ejaz Khan engaging in inappropriate conversations with female participants, some of whom appeared visibly uncomfortable. Viewers accused the show of glorifying vulgarity and crossing ethical boundaries in the name of entertainment.

NCW’s Stern Response

Calling it a grave violation, the NCW stated that such shows not only disrespect women but also contribute to toxic portrayals in digital media. The commission warned that if the allegations of obscenity are proven, strict legal action will follow under relevant sections of the law.

Political Reactions Escalate the Issue

The incident has caught the attention of political leaders as well. Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi condemned the show and demanded an immediate ban on such platforms. Sharing the viral clip on social media, she accused Ullu App of blatantly disregarding content regulations set by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. She further revealed that she had previously raised this issue in the parliamentary standing committee but no decisive action was taken.

Social Media Uproar

Public outrage has been intense, with users across platforms demanding a ban on House Arrest and stricter checks on OTT content. Many expressed concern that such content negatively influences youth and exposes the lack of accountability on streaming platforms.

The next hearing before the NCW on May 9 will determine what consequences Ullu App’s management and Ejaz Khan may face. However, the incident has reignited a pressing debate: Is it time for stricter censorship and monitoring of OTT content in India? The answer may soon become a national talking point.
