Patna: What if Bihar’s melody queen Maithili Thakur became the next “Zuckerberg of Bihar”? At just 25, she has turned her talent and hard work into a millionaire success story that rivals tech entrepreneurs.
The popular devotional singer, known for her soulful bhajans and traditional renditions, has now stepped into politics — and her election affidavit has revealed something astonishing: Maithili Thakur is officially a crorepati.
Her Millionaire Declaration
According to her nomination papers filed for the Alinagar seat in Bihar, the BJP candidate declared movable assets worth ₹2,32,33,255 and self-acquired property valued at ₹1.5 crore. Her steady rise is evident in her income tax filings:
- FY 2023–24: ₹28,67,350
- FY 2022–23: ₹16,98,840
- FY 2021–22: ₹15,93,730
- FY 2020–21: ₹11,15,150
- FY 2019–20: ₹12,02,960
A graduate in B.A. Programme from Bharti College, Delhi University, Maithili has truly turned her musical gift into a flourishing career.
From Rejection to Recognition
Born on July 25, 2000, in Madhubani, Bihar, Maithili’s journey was not easy. Her family moved to Delhi seeking better opportunities, but her father, Ramesh Thakur, initially struggled to find work. Financial hardship couldn’t stop their dreams — her father became her music mentor, and her mother, Pooja Thakur, stood as a pillar of support.
After being rejected from reality shows, Maithili’s persistence paid off in 2017 when she shot to fame with her mesmerizing voice and YouTube videos that went viral. Today, she reportedly earns lakhs per live performance, blending classical, devotional, and folk music in her unique style.
Political Debut — A New Tune
Now, Maithili has taken a new leap — into politics. The BJP has fielded her from Alinagar in Darbhanga, betting on her youth appeal and clean image. Critics questioned her early political entry, but Maithili silenced them with grace, saying, “Music taught me discipline; politics will teach me responsibility.”
Her fans, however, see this as another stage — where she’s destined to shine.
Education and Early Struggles
Maithili was homeschooled till Class 5 due to her dedication to music. Later, she received a scholarship to Bal Bhavan International School, where she balanced her studies and performances. Her grandfather also trained her in classical and Maithili folk music, grounding her deeply in tradition.
