In a bizarre yet heartwarming incident from Bhind, Madhya Pradesh, a young man turned heads when he observed Karwa Chauth — not for his wife or girlfriend, but for his male best friend. What caught everyone’s attention wasn’t just the unique gesture, but the fact that he appeared in public dressed like a bride in a bright lehenga, complete with full solah shringar (traditional adornments).
The Unbelievable Scene in Bhind Market
The incident took place on Friday evening at Bhind’s Sadar Bazaar. A man named Vinod Sharma rode a bike through the market wearing a bridal outfit, while his friend Harish Sharma accompanied him. Shoppers and passersby were stunned, mistaking him for a real bride — until they got closer and realized the truth.
Vinod’s Emotional Gesture for Friendship
When questioned, Vinod explained that he was fasting and performing all rituals to pray for his friend Harish’s long life.
“There are no gender rules in friendship or love. My fasting and dressing up are symbols of my affection and commitment,” Vinod said.
He also shared that watching Harish’s face through the sieve (chalni) was an emotional moment, calling the idea “a tribute to their lifelong bond.”
The Twist: It Was for Entertainment
However, to avoid any controversy, Vinod later clarified that the act was part of a fun video made for social media entertainment. “We create comedy and entertainment videos, and this was just a playful way to show friendship,” he said.
Even though the video was meant for fun, it sparked a massive online debate about friendship, gender expression, and modern rituals — proving once again that the internet never misses a story that challenges stereotypes.
