The recently released Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 has set the box office on fire. The Kannada blockbuster, led and directed by Rishab Shetty, continues to dominate theaters across India. Released alongside Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, Kantara 2 (Chapter 1) has clearly emerged as the audience’s first choice.
₹162.85 Crore in India, ₹250 Crore Worldwide
According to box office tracker Sacnilk, Kantara Chapter 1 opened with a massive ₹61.85 crore on Day 1. On the second day, it earned ₹43.65 crore, taking the two-day total to ₹105.5 crore. By the third day (Saturday), the film added another ₹55 crore, taking its India total to ₹162.85 crore.
Globally, the film has crossed the ₹250 crore milestone within just three days — a remarkable achievement for a regional-language film.
Varun Dhawan’s Film Struggles to Keep Up
On the other hand, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari had a slow start. It earned ₹9.25 crore on Day 1, which dropped to ₹5.25 crore on Day 2. The film saw a slight pickup on Day 3, earning ₹7.25 crore, bringing its India total to ₹22 crore and worldwide around ₹35 crore. Despite the star power of Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, the film failed to attract large crowds.
Rishab Shetty Shines as Actor and Director
In Kantara Chapter 1, Rishab Shetty not only plays the lead role but also directs the film. Starring alongside him are Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah in pivotal roles. The film’s storyline, direction, and emotional depth have received overwhelming praise from audiences and critics alike.
With its roaring success, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 continues to rule the box office and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
