Ludhiana/Bathinda (Punjab): In a shocking development, social media influencer Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, whose real name was Kanchan Kumari, was found dead in a parked car in Bathinda. The 30-year-old had garnered a massive following on Instagram with over 386,000 followers but faced backlash for allegedly uploading obscene and controversial reels.
Police have confirmed that two individuals have been arrested in connection with her murder. The mastermind, identified as radical Nihang leader Amritpal Singh Mehron, remains absconding.
Murder Planned Over Instagram Reels: Terror Links Suspected
According to the police, Kamal Kaur had been threatened multiple times for her online content. She was reportedly warned by terrorist Arsh Dalla seven months ago. The accused, Amritpal Singh Mehron, later claimed responsibility for her murder via a social media post, stating that her misuse of the “Kaur” surname was an insult to Sikh values and history.
Mehron wrote:
“Khalsa never attacks women, but when a woman attacks our beliefs, we will retaliate. Kanchan used the sacred name ‘Kaur’ to post vulgar content and defamed Sikhism—she has paid the price.”
Body Found in Decomposed State; CCTV Footage Crucial in Case
Kamal Kaur was last seen on June 9 when she told her mother she was attending a promotional event in Bathinda. Her last Instagram post was also made the same day. A day later, her decaying body was found in the backseat of a car in the parking lot of Adesh Medical College & Hospital, Bathinda.
CCTV footage from June 10 showed a Sikh man abandoning the car. It was only on June 11 evening, after a foul smell alerted parking staff, that police were called. Upon opening the vehicle, her decomposed body was discovered on the rear seat.
Two Arrested, Mastermind Still at Large
During a press conference, Bathinda SSP Amandeep Kaur Kondal revealed that two accused — Jaspreet Singh Mehron from Moga and Nimnarjeet Singh from Tarn Taran — have been arrested. She confirmed that Amritpal Singh Mehron, the mastermind, is still on the run and police teams are actively searching for him.
