WAVES Summit 2025 became the stage for a major announcement by Emmy Award-winning producer Ekta R. Kapoor, who launched the upgraded ‘MP 2.0’ film policy, aiming to make Madhya Pradesh a central hub for India’s cinematic and digital content production.
Speaking at the summit, Ekta Kapoor praised the state’s film-friendly vision, describing Madhya Pradesh as the country’s next premium shooting destination. “The visuals, heritage, and legacy of Madhya Pradesh are nothing short of cinematic perfection,” she said, emphasizing the region’s potential as a global filming hotspot.
Kapoor called the new film policy a forward-thinking move, while urging for additional financial support and rebates to attract large-scale film productions. “The policy is excellent, but if creators are given the right financial incentives, it will not only ease production challenges but also significantly boost the state’s economy,” she stated.
Drawing parallels with international film destinations like Spain, Kapoor stressed the importance of ease of doing business and attractive rebate structures. “Spain is leading in global shooting because it’s easy to work there, and they offer great rebates. Madhya Pradesh has the potential to follow suit, but it must offer similar support,” she added.
The MP 2.0 policy goes beyond traditional filmmaking, aiming to position the state as a hub for emerging industries like gaming, animation, and VFX. These sectors are rapidly expanding and are central to the growth of India’s digital economy.
With its rich heritage, breathtaking architecture, and now, a modern and inclusive film policy, Madhya Pradesh is set to carve a niche not just in Indian cinema but on the global entertainment map.
