As Bihar gears up for the 2025 Assembly Elections, a shocking political twist has caught everyone’s attention — Divya Gautam, cousin of late Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput, is all set to contest in the polls. The surprise? She’s not running on a BJP ticket, but rather has been chosen by the INDIA alliance.
The development has sent waves across the political landscape, reigniting discussions around Sushant Singh Rajput’s family and their connection with Bihar’s people.
From Patna University to Politics
Interestingly, Divya Gautam is not Sushant’s real sister but his maternal cousin. A resident of Patna, she completed her graduation in Mass Communication from Patna University. Her political journey began during her college years, when she contested the Patna University Students’ Union election in 2012 and finished second for the post of President.
A bright academic, Divya also cleared the 64th BPSC exam, securing the post of Supply Inspector in her first attempt. However, she chose not to take up the job, instead focusing on her passion — politics. Currently, she is pursuing a Ph.D. and has also qualified for the UGC NET, marking her as one of the more educated faces entering Bihar’s political scene.
INDIA Bloc Yet to Finalize Seat Sharing
With Divya Gautam’s entry, political circles are abuzz with speculation. Within the INDIA alliance, seat-sharing talks are still underway. Reports suggest that the Digha Assembly seat, currently associated with CPIML, might be offered to Divya as part of the alliance’s strategy.
Meanwhile, reactions on social media are pouring in — some expressing excitement over a new, educated face joining politics, while others draw parallels between Sushant’s legacy and Divya’s bold political move.
