Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh unveiled the trailer of his much-awaited film Sardaar Ji 3 on June 22. While fans were excited, it came with a twist — the trailer is blocked in India. Indian viewers attempting to watch it on YouTube are met with the message: “The uploader has not made this video available in your country.”
The reason? The lead actress is none other than Pakistani star Hania Aamir, whose inclusion in the project has sparked nationwide debate.
Hania Aamir’s Appearance Confirms She Was Not Removed
After the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, speculation grew that Hania Aamir would be dropped from the film. However, her prominent appearance in the trailer has put those rumors to rest. Diljit’s post on social media further confirmed the release plans:
“Sardaar Ji 3 releasing 27th June OVERSEAS only. Fadh lao bhoond dian lattan.”
Clearly, the film has been restricted to international markets to avoid further backlash in India.
FWICE Protested, Censor Board Alerted
On June 11, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had formally requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to deny certification to Sardaar Ji 3 due to its Pakistani cast. Besides Hania Aamir, the film also features Pakistani actors Nasir Chinyoti, Saleem Albela, and Daniyal Khaawar. This prompted the makers to strategically avoid an Indian release.
Songs and Teasers Still Viewable in India
Interestingly, while the trailer remains inaccessible in India, the songs and teaser of Sardaar Ji 3 are still available on YouTube for Indian users. This indicates selective content restriction, likely due to the visibility of Hania in the full trailer.
Hania Aamir’s Instagram Blocked in India
Reports suggest that Hania Aamir’s Instagram account has also been blocked in India. The block came after India launched “Operation Sindoor” post the Pahalgam attack, and allegedly in response to controversial statements made by the actress against India. As of now, her social media is no longer accessible to Indian users.
