Fans Eagerly Await Release of Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri’s Bold Love Story

Bollywood lovers are eagerly waiting for the release of Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri. While the film has created massive buzz, it recently came under the scanner of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which has now finally granted it clearance — but not without significant edits.

CBFC Approves with Major Cuts

As per a report by The Hindu, the CBFC has approved the film with a U/A 16+ certificate after instructing the makers to implement 16 cuts in the film. The censor board reportedly objected to several scenes, primarily caste-related content, which have now been removed to meet certification norms.

The final runtime of the film stands at 2 hours and 26 minutes.

Story Revolves Around Caste Issues

Directed by Shazia Iqbal, Dhadak 2 explores the sensitive theme of caste-based discrimination. The movie’s announcement was made last year, and it was originally slated to release by the end of 2024. However, the CBFC had withheld clearance until the suggested modifications were made.

Sequel to Dhadak, Remake of Tamil Hit

Dhadak 2 serves as a sequel to the 2018 film Dhadak, which starred Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter and was a remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat. Interestingly, Dhadak 2 is reportedly based on the critically acclaimed Tamil film “Pariyerum Perumal”, known for its hard-hitting narrative on caste and societal inequality.

Karan Johar’s Backing and Release Update

The film is produced by Karan Johar, adding to the anticipation and scale of the release. Now that the film has received its certification post-cuts, an official release date announcement is expected soon.
