Popular Bollywood singer and music composer B Praak, known for emotional hits like Teri Mitti, Mann Bharya, and Filhall, has revealed a deeply personal chapter from his life — his father, Varinder Bachan, who himself is a veteran music director, was against Praak pursuing singing as a career.
In a candid interview, B Praak shared how his musical journey started with resistance from his own home. Despite growing up surrounded by music, his father’s response to his passion was unexpected and emotionally challenging.
“He clearly told me, ‘Main tumhe launch nahi kar sakta (I can’t launch you)’,” Praak recalled.
“He said, ‘I don’t want you to become a singer.’”
According to B Praak, his father feared the instability and unpredictability of the music industry. He wanted his son to choose a safer, more stable profession. Despite being an accomplished composer himself, Varinder Bachan knew the struggles behind the scenes.
“He used to tell me how difficult the life of a singer can be — the emotional toll, the competition, the politics,” said Praak.
Yet, B Praak didn’t let this stop him. Instead, he decided to prove himself independently — without any special favors or backing.
“I never wanted to get anything just because I am his son. I knew if I had to make it, it would be on my own merit,” he shared.
Today, B Praak stands tall as one of the most sought-after voices in the Indian music industry. His songs not only top the charts but also strike deep emotional chords with audiences worldwide.
His story is a reminder that even those born into musical legacies have their own battles to fight. And sometimes, the biggest resistance comes from within the family — but belief, passion, and hard work can still turn dreams into reality.
