In a shocking turn of events from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, 24 transgenders allegedly consumed poison after accusing a group of journalists of rape, physical assault, and death threats. The incident has once again raised serious questions about the safety and dignity of the transgender community in India.

According to reports, the community members claimed they were being harassed and threatened by certain individuals posing as media professionals. Following the alleged assault and humiliation, the group created an uproar and decided to take the drastic step together.

All 24 have been admitted to a hospital, where doctors are working to stabilize their condition.

What Sparked the Controversy?

As per Pandharinath Police Station officials, the case appears to involve a long-standing rivalry between two transgender groups. The complaint was initially filed against a guru of one group, which led to rising tensions.

Reportedly, on June 13, two accused individuals named Pankaj and Akshay allegedly threatened the victims, forced physical relations, and warned them not to disclose the incident. They even threatened to “defame the transgender community” if anyone spoke up.

Though police had already registered an FIR and started an investigation, the situation escalated unexpectedly when news broke that 24 members of the transgender community had consumed poison simultaneously.

Police Investigation Underway

As soon as the police received information, officers rushed to the spot and ensured all victims were taken to the hospital. The authorities have confirmed that both accused are “alleged journalists,” and the investigation is being conducted with utmost seriousness.

The police have stated that the dispute between these groups has been ongoing for a while, and strict action will be taken once the full truth is uncovered. The incident has created panic and disbelief across Indore, with citizens questioning how such an incident could unfold in a modern city.
