About the Movie

Director Laxman Utekar aims to portray the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on the big screen. He believes that while many films have been made about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, not many have explored the greatness of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and his contributions to the Maratha Empire and Maharashtra. Based on a Marathi book by Dr. Jaisingrao Pawar, the film will depict the events and achievements of Sambhaji’s reign, highlighting the pride, courage, and challenges faced by the Maratha Empire during his rule.

Who is Vicky Kaushal’s Co-star?

Chhaava: The Great Warrior is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jio Studios, slated for a 2024 release. Rashmika Mandanna will play the role of Sambhaji’s wife Yesubai in the film. After Sam Bahadur, Uri: The Surgical Strike, and Sanju, this film adds to Vicky Kaushal’s repertoire of portraying characters inspired by real-life figures.
