Acclaimed Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda is all set to take on the lead role in the upcoming military thriller Operation Khukri, a film that brings to life one of the Indian Army’s most audacious peacekeeping missions abroad. The high-stakes drama is inspired by real events that took place in the year 2000 in the war-torn region of Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Operation Khukri tells the gripping story of 233 Indian peacekeeping soldiers from the United Nations Mission who were taken hostage by rebel forces during a brutal civil war. What followed was a daring, high-risk rescue operation carried out deep within the African jungle — an operation that showcased India’s military prowess and unwavering commitment to its soldiers.

Randeep Hooda will be seen portraying Major General Raj Pal Punia, who at the time was a young and courageous Company Commander of the 14th Mechanised Infantry Battalion. The film will trace his journey navigating the intense standoff, planning the rescue, and leading his troops through dangerous terrain and combat zones to bring every soldier back alive.

Known for his intense performances and dedication to realism, Hooda’s role in Operation Khukri is expected to be both powerful and emotionally charged. With its patriotic theme and gripping narrative, the film is anticipated to strike a chord with audiences across the country.

The movie will not only celebrate the bravery of Indian soldiers but also shed light on a lesser-known chapter of India’s international military contributions.

Operation Khukri is currently in production and will soon be slated for release in theatres.
